FUG appoints Elechi as new chancellor

 

The Federal University Gusau, Zamfara state, has appointed His Royal Highness,  Arch. Ezeogo Ewa Elechi, the Isu Oha 1 of Ohaisu Kingdom, from Ebonyi state, as the university’s new chancellor.

Speaking at the combined maiden convocation ceremony of the university Saturday, the vice chancellor, Federal University, Gusau, Professor Magaji Garba, described the new chancellor as a great man who contributed immensely towards unity and progress of his people and kingdom.

He said since the establishment of the university in 2013 by the federal government, it played vital roles to the development of education, as 794 students successfully graduated.

“Indeed, the appointment of His Royal Highness, Arch. Ezeogo Ewah Elechi was based on merit considering his tremendous contribution to the development of education, peace and unity, not only among his people, but Nigeria as a whole,” Professor  Garba stated.

He said the university is facing serious challenge of underfunding and critical infrastructures, hence the need for the federal government to come to the aid of the University for the Development of education.

He also called on the new chancellor to use his vast experience  to put hands together in transforming the university.

Arch.  Elechi commended the university for giving him mandate to serve as chancellor, saying, he will give all the needful support to ensure the development of the university during his stewardship as chancellor.

 Blueprint reports that amongst the dignitaries who attended the maiden convocation ceremony are: the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ada Abubakar, the Emir of Gwandu, Kano, Gusau among others.
