FUGA: Prof Haruna remains VC – Governing Council

The Governing Council of Federal University Gashua (FUGA) in Yobe state has said the purported report that Professor Andrew Haruna has been removed and a new Vice Chancellor has been appointed on acting capacity is fake news.

A statement released by the Acting Registrar to the Council, A. B Shehu to Blueprint on Monday indicated that the information was baseless.

“The Governing Council wishes to state that information contained in
the document is unfounded, baseless, mischievous, malicious and
concocted to breed disharmony between members of the Management of the University.

“It has never met at any date to discuss any matter as contained in
the fake release. No petition of any report that may require such
severe punishment has been presented to council at anytime.  There are
written procedure on the appointment and removal of a Vice Chancellor
and it is only the visitor that can remove a Vice Chancellor,” the
statement reads in part.

The statement further said the governing council was satisfied with the performance of the Vice Chancellor and his management, adding, “he has diligently been performing his official duties.

“The council therefore distances itself from the content of the
circulation of the fake statement.”
