FUTO staff quarters ready in 6 months time – VC

The first phase of the new staff quarters of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), will be completed in six months’ time. The hint was dropped by the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof Chigozie Cyril Asiabaka, in Owerri, while conducting newsmen round the project site.
According to him, the building would have 3 bedroom flats, 4 bedroom flats and duplexes and would be built and managed by a developer who would eventually hand them over to the school authorities.

He expressed optimism that God in His infinite mercy would reposition FUTO as it had come to stay.
In his remarks, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Board, Dr Emmanuel Enemuo said that the ground breaking ceremony of the staff quarters marked the watershed in the annals of the citadel of learning. He added that his ambition had always been to create a community where students and teachers would live together.
Earlier, a representative of the developer, Investment Construction Industrial Company Ltd, Dr Surplus Arthur Surplus disclosed that about 300 housing units with different designs would be built over 800 plots of land. He added that it would be a 3 storied edifice with about 1,000 rooms, with the necessary life enhancing facilities.
