Gaidam charges LG caretaker chairmen to be prudent

Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe state has called on the newly appointed local government caretaker chairmen to be prudent while performing their duties as they would be closely monitored and anyone found wanting would be shown the way out.

Gaidam gave the charge on Wednesday while swearing-in the newly appointed local government caretaker chairmen at Government House, Damaturu.

He said the decision to reappoint them to serve in the management committee was in appreciation of their contribution to the development of the state while serving as elected chairmen between January 2015 to December, 2018.

“We expect them to always strive to live above board so as to justify the confidence and trust reposed in them by the government and good people of Yobe state”.

“You should ensure that all approved projects are executed in accordance with specification, ensuring quality work and observance of due process” he said.

He however said the caretaker chairmen will serve for only a period of six months as stipulated by law while the incoming governor,  Mai Mala Buni will arrange for the conduct of the local government elections.

Blueprint gathered that 13 out of the 17 former local government chairmen were reappointed as the caretaker management committee.
