Gaidam frees 5 inmates in Yobe

Yobe state governor, Ibrahim Gaidam has granted pardon to five prisoners convicted and jailed for various offences in two prisons across the state.
This was disclosed in a press statement by the Director-General Press Affairs, Abdullahi Bego and made available to newsmen in Damaturu, the state capital yesterday.
The pardon was granted based on the governor’s prerogative of mercy powers conferred on him by Section 212 (1) of the 1999 Constitution as amended and based on the recommendation of the state Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, chaired by the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr Ahmed Mustapha Goniri.
Those pardoned were, Mohammed Gidado, Adamu Hardo, Kachallah Bukar, Jibrin Mohammed and Baba Isa. The governor’s pardon was with immediate effect.
