Gaidam proposes N92.2bn budget for 2018

Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe state has presented the sum of N92, 182,336,000 appropriation and finance bill to the House of Assembly for the 2018 fiscal year.
He said the bill, tagged Budget of Consolidation and Socio-economic Rejuvenation, “will enable the government to complete all the on-going legacy projects that the administration is bequeathing to the good people of the state and the new ones in line with the overall development agenda, especially the multi-billion naira international cargo airport awarded this year.”
The governor said the economic sector got N36, 842,985,000, while governance sector was allocated the sum of N13, 788,712,000.
He added that the sum of N2, 322,143,000 and N39, 227,496,000 were allocated to law and justice and social sectors, respectively.
According to him, the budget is to be funded through statutory allocation, value-added tax, ecological fund, stabilisation fund, excess crude oil, and exchange rate differential, among others.
Blueprint gathered that the 2018 Appropriation and Finance bill had an increase of 10% against the 2017, for which the sum of N82 billion was earmarked.
Earlier, welcoming the governor to the chambers of the House of Assembly, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adamu Dala Dogo, promised to expedite action in passing the bill for the benefit of Yobe indigenes.
