Gana inaugurates new N/Tornadoes management C’ttee

Two weeks after their appointment, the Niger state government has inaugurated the eight man Niger Tornadoes Management Committee with a mandate to win the Nigeria Professional Football League title.
Inaugurating the management at the sports council in Minna on Thursday, the permanent secretary, Ministry of sports development, Alhaji Mohammed Gana also urged them to ensure that they surpassed the last year federation cup where the Team emerged second after losing the final to Akwa United.
The said that each member of the management should be allowed to function in accordance with the schedule contained in their appointment letter so that there will not be internal wrangling among members.
He challenged the management to look in ward for other ways of sourcing fund for the club, as the government alone he said can not fund the club sufficiently.
Alhaji Gana therefore advices the management to be prudent in their financial management in the face of dwindling resources in the state.
The eight man management committee has Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha Gawu as its chairman while Mallam Bello Auta Maikunkele is to serve as the vice chairman.
Other members of the committee include former Tornadoes player, Usman Alfa Ziga as the Team manager, Mallam Awwal Idris Baba, the welfare offi cer, Mallam Abdullahi Abdul Likita, a former captain of the Team as the liaison offi cer.
Also to serve in the management are Mallam Aliyu Muazu Kontagora as the secretary of the club, Alhaji A.
U Sani Balarabe, marketing offi cer while Alhaji Abdullahi L.
S Dangana, a lecturer at the state owned College of Education is to serve as the media offi cer.
In a letter signed by the permanent secretary, ministry of youth and sports, Dr.
Mohammed Gana said that the appointment of Mustapha Gawu, a former chairman of the club was based on merit and therefore urged him to bring his wealth of experience in the sports administration to bear in the management of the club.
In his response, the Chairman Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha Gawu assured the government that the management will leave no stone unturned to ensure that the team surpass its last season achievements.
Gawu said the first assignment of the management will be to ensure that the Team return back to Minna township stadium to play it home matches
