Kano state government has distributed nine new assorted vehicles and eight fairly used ones, in addition to refurbishing 12 vans, for security agencies in the state, at the total cost of N292, 625, 015. 50. A breakdown of the donation showed that the NDLEA got two new Toyota Hilux vans, state HISBA Command, three new Toyota Hilux vans, NSCDC, two new Toyota Hilux vans, while the State Sports Commission got a new Coaster bus and a new Corolla saloon.
Th e state road traffi c agency, KAROTA, received six fairly used Toyota vans and two fairly used towing vehicles even as the Nigerian Army, 3 Brigade, Kano, had 12 of its vehicles refurbished. Th is, Blueprint gathered, is sequel to 16 brand new vehicles donated to the brigade, recently, by the state government. In his remarks, during the handing over of the vehicles, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said the state would continue to assist security agencies as part of the government’s commitment towards ensuring sustainable peace and security. “Kano must be safe for businesses to thrive. People must be secure to conduct their day to day endeavors.
Without peace, we cannot sustain the position of Kano as the commercial nerve center of this part of the country if security does not remain a top priority,” he said. Ganduje noted with happiness that with the support of the state government, security agencies in the state had succeeded in reducing armed robbery signifi cantly, while criminal activities had abated in Falgore forest in Doguwa local government area. In this regard, he charged the security agencies to sustain their gallantry and to make best use of the vehicles donated to them.
In his brief remarks, on behalf of the benefi tting agencies, the state NDLEA Commander, Alhaji Hamza Umar, expressed appreciation to the Ganduje administration for its moral, fi nancial and logistic support to security agencies in the state, stating that the assistance would help in making their jobs easier
