Ganduje presents N245bn budget for 2023

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has presented a budget proposal to the tune of N245, 31,516,94.8k to the House of Assembly for the 2023 fiscal year.

Presenting the budget proposal on the floor of the House in Kano Friday, Ganduje said his government’s recurrent revenue target stood at the total sum of N185, 806,478,871,58k, while the sum of N100, 964,614, has been earmarked as current expenditure and that the sum of N144, 67, 2100,350.00 has been earmarked as capital expenditure.

The budget which was tagged Budget of Consolidation and Prosperity No.2, according to the governor, had been carefully designed and projected to pay priority attention to key strategic sectors like education, heath, agriculture, security and water supply adding that the completion of critical infrastructure would be pursued with determination and vigour.

He said the budget presented in the year 2022 had been a huge success as all sectors of human endeavour have been carefully scrutinized and considered for robust implementation positing that the business of governance and leadership required the doggedness and commitment of one calling the shots at the centre.

In his response shortly after the presentation of the proposal, the speaker of the Assembly, Alhaji Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari, said the Ganduje administration had been consistent in working in tandem with the legislative chamber and that the legislators would swing into action in giving nod to the proposal.

He said no democratic dispensation could ever be feasible with the executive arm and the legislator at loggerheads affirming that the existing synergy between the two arms of the government had paved the way for the business of purposeful leadership to flourish.
