Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has relterated his administration’s zero tolerance for corruption.
According to him, his mantra on probity, accountability and transparency in governance is not negotiable.
Speaking to newsmen at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport on his decision to appoint six new commissioners in a minor cabinet reshuffle, Ganduje said it had been his administration stance to effect a change for new innovation to hold sway.
The governor said the cabinet reshuffle was normal in any administrative set-up and that a sitting governor was obliged, under normal circumstances, to effect a leadership paradigm shift, stressing that his “penchant for re-energising the machinery of good governance is based on the philosophy of accountability, probity and transparency.
” Ganduje said no democratic system of government could ever be realistic with the indices of corruption being promoted to high heavens, affirming that he had read the riot act to the new commissioners on “acts capable of smearing” their image “and for them to be aware that my administration has zero tolerance to corruption in all spheres.
” He said his administration was ever willing to complete the high-profile projects it had started and the ones inherited since coming on board, adding that “nothing can stop my resolve to serve the people of Kano with vigour and diligence.
” He added that the issue of service delivery was paramount in the priority list of his administration “taking into cognisance the expectation of the electorate who have reposed an appreciable degree of trust and confidence on leaders,” stressing that with effective service delivery, realising the goals of good governance would never be far-fetched.
