Ganduje’s call for Buhari’s declaration good for democracy – Group

Sequence Democratic Alternative, a nongovernmental organisation, has described the advice given to President Muhammadu Buhari by Governor Umar Ganduje to contest for a second term in office as a good omen to the nascent democracy. In a letter sent to the governor, signed by the National Coordinator of the group, Mr Adewale John Senior, the group observed that Ganduje, before any other highly placed politician in Nigeria, was working hard to see that Nigerians continue to reap from the good work of the President. That, according to the letter “was what even pushed Governor Ganduje to finally reveal Kano alternative of taking Buhari to court, should he refuse to heed to their calls. With President’s consent now, we believe Ganduje’s call was effectively listened to by our dear President.” Senior added that, “The call posed by Ganduje was well thought out. We believe that he did that because he believes, as we all do, that the good work started by President Buhari should be completed by the same Buhari as our second-tenured President.”
He said many Nigerians thought correctly that, since Ganduje came out boldly and request on behalf of Kano people that Buhari should come back in 2019, “our listening President would act positively. Which he did without any hesitation,” the letter said. SEDEA added that the way President Buhari answered Ganduje’s call in the affirmative they also want Kano governor to also answer many calls from the citizens of Kano requesting him to seek for second term in office. “Not only declaring his intention, we want him to accept our request to allow us buy form for his reelection bid please,” the letter said.
