Gates, Dangote, others hail Buni on primary health care delivery

The co-chairman of Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, Mr. Bill Gates and Alhaji Aliko Dangote have commended Yobe state governor, Mai Mala Buni, CON, for up scaling primary health care in the state.

They gave the commendation in a teleconference meeting of the end of year review of primary health care programmes in the state.

Gate said the rating of Yobe as the most improved state in routine immunisation coverage was highly commendable.

He described Yobe as being on track of achieving the universal health care standard through improved primary health care programmes, assuring the state of continuous support.

Similarly, chairman Dangote foundation, Aliko Dangote, also commended the state for achieving the most improved position in routine immunisation.

He also commended the state for institutionalising the system and the maiden technical review to improve the performance.

He said implementation of technical committee report would sustain the successes recorded in the state.

Meanwhile, WHO, Unicef and other development partners assured the state of their support.

Governor Buni said government would continue to support primary health care programmes in the state.

“We are about to float the Yobe State Emergency Medical Ambulance Service, and an executive bill in that regard has already been transmitted to the House of Assembly and it is currently at an advanced stage of legislative action.

“These are part of our strategies for reducing maternal, prenatal, and child morbidity and mortality,” Buni said.
