Giroud groans under Lampard as Chelsea coach

Chelsea striker, Olivier Giroud, has spoken out on losing his position to teammate, Tammy Abraham in manager, Frank Lampard’s squad.

Giroud has barely fixture for Chelsea this season with Lampard preferring Abraham as his first-choice striker.

The France international has played just 191 minutes for Lampard’s men this campaign.

When asked about his current situation at Chelsea after Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League 2-1 victory over Lille on Wednesday night, the 32-year-old told L’Equipe: “I’m fine, I’ve had a hard time. Now it’s not the ideal situation.

“At this moment, little Tammy is walking on water. Listen, it’s hard to drop a striker when he’s successful.

“I am patient. I work in training. You have to keep a good state of mind. We have a lot of games to play.

“Last week, I missed all three games because of a dirty virus that tied me to the bed. Now I feel much better.

“The coach preferred to start Tammy. It’s good for the team. It makes us want to continue working and shaking up the competition.”

Giroud will hope to feature for Chelsea when they tackle Southampton on Sunday in the Premier League.
