Giwa can’t pay minimum wage

GiwaNewly-promoted Giwa FC of Jos have raised alarms that they cannot pay the minimum wage of N150, 000 a month per player as ordered by the league.
A top official of the club told the League Management Company they could meet up all the other requirements for them to get a licence to feature in the Nigeria Premier League, but they cannot afford the monthly minimum wage.
“Giwa have complained they cannot pay the minimum salary of N150, 000, but can meet up with the other requirements they need to get their licence,” the official disclosed.

But the club have been advised to adhere strictly to all the requirements or else risk losing their place in the Premier League.
Giwa FC, who are bankrolled by Amb. Chris Giwa, won promotion to the top flight for the first time in their history, last year.
They also won the Nigeria National League (NNL) championship play-off.
