Giwa FC have been granted provisional admission to participate in the 2013/14 Glo Premier League, supersport.com can report.
The League Management Company (LMC), it was learned, has allowed the club to return to Nigeria’s premier division after they substantially complied with the four mandatory conditions handed them by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) executive committee last month.
Giwa FC were expelled from the league alongside Nembe City on March 6, this year, for failing to meet the minimum requirement which included players’ minimum wage of N150,000 (around $936) as well as an allegiance letter to the LMC among others.
“Giwa FC are back in the league but only provisionally for meeting the four mandatory conditions set by the apex football body in the country. You’ll remember the NFF executive committee met in an emergency meeting last month and told the affected clubs, Giwa FC and Nembe City, in clear terms to meet certain conditions before they could play in the league.
“As I speak to you, Giwa FC have substantially met the four mandatory conditions and that’s why they are back in the league. As for Nembe City, I can only say they have until 5 pm tomorrow (April 2, 2014) to meet the conditions. That’s all I know for now,” a staff of the LMC voulunteered.
The Jos-based club will now face Warri Wolves at the Warri City Stadium this Sunday and then play hosts to Enugu Rangers and today which is a Match Day 4 game.
Giwa FC’s other matches against Kano Pillars, Dolphins and Sunshine Stars will be rescheduled, supersport.com was informed.
