Giyan promises improved health facilities, manpower at FMC Keffi

Chief Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Keffi, Dr Joshua Giyan, has re-assured of his readiness to further enhance the medical facilities, as well as train and equip health personnel for increased productivity.

Giving the assurance while speaking to Blueprint in Abuja, Giyan, whose tenure as the Chief Medical Director was extended by another term by President Goodluck Jonathan recently, however, said his achievements would not prompt him to relax.

He said: “What everyone testify as a milestone in terms of how health facilities have greatly improved including our medical services will not make the management under my leadership to relax. Every year, since 2011, we have been organising management retreat for our workers to enable us plan on how to work for throughout the year.

“The retreat helps to make reorient ate the staff in a way they will discharge their duties to achieve the mandate of President Goodluck Jonathan. In my first term in office, so many persons both those within and outside tried to scuttle our effort but couldn’t succeed. Even when the new board was inaugurated, they wrote so many petitions against me.

“The more they try to fight, the more they publicise what we do because good things don’t hide. They even petition us at ministry of health. But we remained focused, that’s why nobody could find any loop hole. Though we are beginning to experience shortfall in the revenue given to us by government, we will have to work hard to improve our internal revenue generation. That does not mean we intend to charge patients more than before.”
