Goalkeeping crisis hits Bayelsa Utd

Bayelsa United survived a goalkeeping crisis in a Nigeria league Week 2 game against Gombe United at the Patami Stadium on Sunday.

The game ended goalless, but Bayelsa first choice goalkeeper, Gideon Gambo, was stretchered off injured and was replaced by Kazeem Yekeen, who later suffered hamstring injury.

Former Kwara United shot stopper Yekeen told MTNFootball.com he barely managed to finish the game with the injury.
“It was a good game for us as we didn’t lose. But we lost the first choice goalkeeper Gambo to injury and I also got injured after I came in for him.

“It was a hamstring (injury), but I just had to finish the game with the injury and I thank God I was able to do that,” he said.
Bayelsa will this weekend face How Mine of Zimbabwe in continuation of the CAF Confederation Cup.
