God instructed me not to visit Benue before Buhari – Adebayo

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has said God had instructed him to visit Benue state only after President Muhammadu Buhari had visited.

Adeboye, who visited Benue state yesterday and held a prayer session for the state at the Banquet Hall of the People’s House, Makurdi, said the purpose of his visit was only to pray for the state.

“I am not a politician; I am not here to make any political statement but to only pray for the people of the state. Benue is very close to our heart we have felt every pain you felt, we wept when you were weeping.

“The governor is my son, his wife is my daughter, I can’t hear that my children are in trouble and sit at home. I would have been in the state earlier than now but I was instructed by God not to visit before President Buhari visited.

“No man of God can see anyone bury 73 persons and not be in pains. As Christians, when somebody was dead, there was no way you could convert the person, adding that it was why they wanted the killings to stop.

“God can stop it. He doesn’t play, or compromise. We will call on him to fight this battle that we cannot fight. I am here to pray for the state that the Helper of the helpless will fight our battle.”

Earlier, Governor Samuel Ortom while welcoming the Man of God and his entourage, disclosed that the “enemies of the state have turned the state into an internally displaced persons Home as a result of the mindless attacks.”

“Your coming is like that of a child who waits for his father to come back and beat whoever is punishing him. I believe the enemies of this state who have turned Benue to IDPs camps after displacing people from 16 out of 23 local government areas, a word from you will bring healing and salvation to the state,” he said.
