GOK Ajayi, a legend – Fayemi

The demise of legal Icon, Chief G.O.K. Ajayi has been described as “the end of a chapter” that shaped the legal profession in the country.
Ekiti state Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, said Ajayi’s place in the annals of the evolution of democracy in the country was eternally secured.

He said Ajayi was a fearless lawyer and people’s advocate, adding that the deceased chose to stay on the side of the people by defending the mandate given to the late Chief M.K.O. Abiola in the court of law at the risk of his life.

Fayemi also said Ajayi was a great legend of the legal profession whose contribution to human rights, advocacy and jurisprudence would remain indelible in the memory of Nigerians.
He urged the family of the deceased to take solace in the fact that their patriarch lived a fulfilled life and positively touched his generation.
The governor expressed his condolences to family members, relations, friends and associates of the deceased, and prayed God to grant them the courage to bear the loss.
