Golden Eaglets tackle Burkina Faso for WAFU U-17 diadem

The Golden Eaglets will take on Burkina Faso in Friday’s Final of the WAFU B U17 Championship after both teams won their semifinals.

The Golden Eaglets beat Cote d’Ivoire 3-1 in the first semifinal, while Burkina Faso edged host nation Ghana 1-0 to book their place in the final.

Both Nigeria and Burkina Faso have already qualified for the U17 AFCON in Algeria in March.

The tournament will serve as qualifiers for the U17 FIFA World Cup.

Friday’s Final will be played from 8.30 pm inside the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

AFCON Ticket: Abayomi Ogunjimi Congratulates Golden Eaglets.

The National President of Authentic Nigeria Football and Allied Sports Supporters Club, ANFASSC, Prince Abayomi Ogunjimi has hailed the resilience of the country’s Under 17 Boys team, Golden Eaglets.

He has also congratulated the team for reaching the finals of the 2022 WAFU B Under 17 tournament in Ghana, and also booking a ticket to next year’s Under 17 AFCON.

The team came from behind to defeat Cote D’ivoire in the semi final of the tournament to reach the final, and also picked one of the tickets to the 2023 Under 17 Africa Cup of Nations in Algeria.

He said “Congratulations to the boys, they have sincerely done well, though it has not ended, I’m quite confident that they can lift the trophy right there in Ghana”

“The good thing is the ticket for the Under 17 AFCON, I know they will continue to develop and come out stronger”

Prince Ogunjimi noted that ANFASSC will do everything within its reach to ensure that the boys do not lack support in Algeria.
