Gombe state chapter of APC Youth Vanguard has called on Chief Executive Officer of SunTrust Bank Nigeria, Alhaji Muhammad Jibrin to formally declare for the 2019 governorship seat of the state.
The vanguard made the call in Gombe, after a meeting at the state secretariat of the APC yesterday.
State coordinator, Ahmad Baba Iya Kombani, said they believed Jibrin Danbarde deserved to clinch the party’s ticket, considering his contributions to the party both at the state and national levels since the party’s inception in 2014.
“Despite contributing immensely to the development of the APC since its formation in 2014, by donating state office here in Gombe and the party’s headquarters, he has never declared his interest to contest for any position in the party,” the youths said.
Kombani said the youth vanguard decided to support the SunTrust chief executive and will purchase the form for him, because of his financial acumen, saying he is the only person among the aspirants to salvage the state from huge debt incurred by the PDP led administration.
“Having developed the SunTrust Bank to a big financial institution in Nigeria, we believe he has the experience to bring out the state from the debt, financial bondage and mismanagement of the economy by the seven year administration of Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo,” Kombani added.
He noted that even before venturing into partisan politics, Danbarde had been granting scholarships to over 110 students annually, in addition to settling hospital bills for the less privileged in hospitals across the state.
