Gombe state Government has assured All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) of its commitment to procure tones of fertilizer and timely distribution to farmers in the state during dry season.
The state Commissioner of Agriculture, Alhaji Dahiru Buba Biri disclosed this while speaking during the association’s zonal meeting in Gombe yesterday.
He said agriculture has been a major part of the economy that the nation is proud of, there is urgent need to embrace farming in order to achieve the desired goal of the country.
Biri further commended both the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Bank of Agriculture for their initiative towards supporting AFAN and its programmes.
The commissioner called on members of the association not to relent in putting their best in carrying their programmes effectively.
Also peaking, National Vice President Arable Crops, Auwal Tukur, said that in order to enhance the improvement of farm products, the Association has make strategies plan with a need to sensitized its members in yielding positive result in their businesses.
He said that necessary measure would be taking in enlightened reactiveness of its members as the country has blessed with vast land where people are advice to engage themselves in farming than depending on oil.
Tukur encouraged the participants to make use of the meeting and discuss relevant issued that will bring development within the association.
He said putting head together will enhance members while performing their responsibility.
