Gombe, FG, World partner to strengthen irrigation in Gombe

Gombe state Government is set to collaborate with  the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and  World Bank to strengthen irrigation scheme in the state.

A statement signed by Senior Special Assistant Media and Publicity to Gombe state Governor Ismaila Uba Misilli and made available to newsmen  said the Minister of Water Resources, Engineer Sulaiman Adamu made the disclosure when he received Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya in Abuja.

Misilli said 3000-hectare irrigation programme will commence in Gombe State under the Transforming Irrigation Management in Nigeria Project, (TRIMMING)

According to him, the minister appreciated Governor Inuwa for his political will to attract development in Gombe state.

 “the 3,000-hectare irrigation expansion project in Dadin Kowa will start in earnest within the next six months baring bureaucratic process while working to revive the Cham dam will continue immediately after this rainy season the inform,” he said

He said the expansion of the irrigation scheme in Dadinkowa will create more jobs, generate wealth and enhance food production.

Mr Misilli explains that the Minister gave a broad overview of the activities and opportunities in his ministry, commended Gombe state’s desire to key into the various initiatives.

Hr said the Minister enjoined Gombe Government to key into the national campaign to end open defecation which will be launched in November by President Muhammadu Buhari.
