Mr Misillin said the approval is in view of the present determination to ensure that workers who have served the state and retired enjoy a comfortable life.

He said the directive was issued when the Governor received the interim report of the committee constituted to ascertain the correct amount of the outstanding gratuities for the retirees as at 29th ay, 2019.

He said the Chairman of the committee, who is the State Auditor-General, Muhammad Buba Gombe said about 1,097,968,035 would cover the payment of 504 eligible state retirees, with 50 per cent approved for immediate payment to beneficiaries.

In the meantime, the payment of gratuity for local government retirees will also follow suit after verification by the committee.
