Gombe Governor-elect preaches unity, peace as Ramadan begins

As Muslims all over the world commence fasting of the holy month of Ramadan today, Gombe state Governor-elect, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has urged citizens in the state to use the occasion to pray fervently for continued unity, peaceful coexistence and development of the state.

This was contained in a press statement signed and made available to Journalists by Zubair Muhammad Umar, director general office of the Gombe state Governor-elect.

Yahaya reiterated that peace is an important element and foundation of societal growth and prosperity noting that for tranquility to continue to reign amongst the citizens, they all must make necessary sacrifice and take seriously the admonition of religious leaders to uphold the bond of unity, good neighborliness and compassion.

He admonished the Muslim community to always demonstrate in their lives, the spirit and ideals of Islam by living according to the tenets of the religion which promotes peace, kindness and obedience.

 The governor-elect said the holy month of Ramadan avails the Muslim Ummah a golden opportunity for intensive prayers, spiritual rejuvenation and charity.

He expressed the hope that they will take maximum advantage and benefit of the season by increasing their devotion, acts of kindness, generosity and support to one another in the spirit of Ramadan.
