A member of the House of Representatives from Gombe state representing Balanga-Billiri federal constituency, Mr Victor Mela, has distributed empowerment items to his constituents in two local government areas with the aim of alleviating poverty and improving their well-being.
Addressing the beneficiaries in Billiri town weekend, Mela said the items were to be distributed to support the youth, women and the physically challenged in the constituency.
He said his intervention also covered the education sector, beginning with the training of primary school teachers, to improve the standard of education at the primary school level
The lawmaker also announced cash donations of N20, 000 each to 200 persons as a way of supporting them financially.
Other items distributed included, motorcycles, sewing machines, water pump for irrigation farming, locally fabricated wheelchairs, grinding machines, vulcanising machines and generators.
On the recent crisis in Billiri, the lawmaker appealed to the youth in the area to embrace peace by cultivating the habit of tolerance towards one another in the interest of development.
He assured the people of quality and sound representation at the state legislature to improve their standard of living.
