The new Commissioner of Police Gombe state Police command Mr Ishola Babatunde Babaita has vowed to smoke out criminals in the state.
Babatunde Babaita stated this while briefing newsmen at the state police command headquarters in Gombe, Monday.
According to the new CP, “Intelligence-led, community-based police visibility will be improved to cover necessary locations so as to prevent crimes, in synergy with other security agencies in Gombe state.
“We will protect citizens’ rights through due process and I want to warn that any suspect arrested for rape, unnatural offences, violence against women and children (girls) will not go scot-free but be made to face the wrath of the law.”
Babaita also warned personnel to desist from any corrupt act, saying “there will be zero-tolerance for corruption as I will not tolerate any of my officers, whether senior or junior involving in corrupt practices.”
Babaita also urged residents to assist the law enforcement agents with vital information, saying the command would treat all complaints with fairness and justice to build confidence between the police and the people.
The new CP, who hails from Ilorin local government area of Kwara state, took over from CP Maikudi Shehu who retired recently.
