Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) office in Gombe state said it had spent half a billion naira on education and health projects in 2018.
Permanent Secretary, SDG office, Dr Samanja Joshua, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Gombe Wednesday.
He said the office had constructed and equipped one block of two classrooms and head-teacher offices across the 11 local government areas of the state.
He said the decision to construct the schools was informed by SDG four, which ensures inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
He said in the area of health, the office had constructed two cottage hospitals at Hina in Yamaltu/Deba and Tal in Billiri local government areas of the state.
Joshua further said 11 tricycle ambulances were procured and distributed to each of the 11 Primary Health Care facilities across the state in addition to the construction of junior staff and doctors’ quarters at General Hospital, Dukku, in Dukku local government area.
He said two ambulances were also purchased and given to hospitals in the state aimed at providing optimum service to patients.
In addition, the permanent secretary said Health Marshals were recruited and deployed to Ministry of Health and State Primary Health Care Development Agency to assist where necessary.
He said the aim of investing in health sector was to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages which is Sustainable Development Goals three.
