Gombe signs MoU with Qatar on charity, social services

Gombe state Governor Inuwa Yahaya, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Qatar Charity Foundation on provision of social services in communities across the 11 local government areas of the state.

This was contained in a Press statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Ismaila Uba Misilli and made available to Journalists in Gombe

The statement said the Governor Yahaya signed for Gombe state Government while the Country Director of Qatar Charity Foundation, Mr Hamdi Mohammed signed on behalf of the Qatari group.

According to the statement, Mr. Mohammed said his foundation intends to extend its charity work and humanitarian services to Gombe state in support of Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s remarkable efforts and commitment towards the welfare of his people.

He said in the first phase of the programme, the foundation will drill motorized boreholes, build mosques and other social facilities.

In his words, “First, we are going to drill 32 boreholes and eleven mosques across the eleven local government areas and thereafter hand them over to the state Government for onward presentation to the benefiting communities. This is just for the first phase of the project, we are going to cover more areas insha Allah”.

He disclosed also that, “Under our charity work, we drill boreholes, build schools, hospitals, mosques and orphanages. Already we have drilled more than 1300 boreholes, built more than 400 mosques and provided orphanages across northern and southern parts of Nigeria. Our projects are 100 per cent funded by our foundation and are purely charity services”.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi and the former Managing Director, Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Alhaji Ya’u Gimba Kumo.
