Gombe State have targeted about 600,000 under fi ve children, for this year’s round of measles vaccination exercise, scheduled for November 2017.
Th e State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Kennedy Ishaya, revealed this during a press briefi ng on the fourth coming measles campaign in the country.
Th e Commissioner said adequate preparations towards a successful vaccination campaign are being carried out through various committees, as diff erent trainings at diff erent stages are ongoing in the state to prepare healthcare workers who will participate in the campaign.
He said: “I will like to take this opportunity to callon Political, Traditional and Religious leaders and indeed parents and guardians to give their maximum support, by ensuring the campaign meet the target of vaccinating all eligible children.
” Th e coverage survey for Gombe state after the 2015 measles vaccination campaign was around 40 percent, which is below the national average.
