Gombe: Yahaya suspends last minutes appointments, contracts

The newly sworn-in governor of Gombe state Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya has suspended all appointments, contracts and allocation of plots made by immediate-past administration from 10th March 2019 to date.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya who stated this while delivering his inaugural speech at Pantami township stadium, said the immediate-past administration of Dankwambo made massive employment into the state and local government services and awarded last minutes contracts.

“We know of the irresponsible carving out, allocations and sale of plots of land to cronies, be rest assured that we shall take steps to address all illegalities committed by the post administration and perpetrators and illegal beneficiaries will be held to account,” he stated.

He said the state is blessed with enormous resources, but was not utilise by the past government, adding that “Our people battling with a lack of drinking water, irregular power supply and our state today has the high rate of maternal and child death and out of school children”. 

He said his administration will create enabling environment for investors who are willing to come in to the state to invest.

“We will create a conducive atmosphere for you to work, and we are expecting you to reciprocate the gesture,” he said.
