Gombe: Yahaya unveils 200-bed isolation centres

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state has unveiled the 200-bed isolation, treatment centres for COVID-19 in the state.

Yahaya, while briefing newsmen shortly after commissioning the last isolation centre in Kwadon, Yamaltu-Deba local government area of the state, said he expected that the people of Gombe would get treated in all these facilities.

He said: “We put up all the facilities in the event that there is infection and we need to treat and save the lives of our people from the pandemic. 

“We have taken measures before now and we are willing to take more measures to ensure that our people are safe. You must have observed that it is really very difficult to lock up people and where there islockdown completely, a lot of places, especially outside the urban centres, a lot of people do not obey instructions and as a result people tend to come into the state.’’

The governor added that the state had put up a robust structure by which it observe, survey and supervise people coming into the state illegally for them to be identified and isolated.

He stated that his administration was putting structures in place in efforts to combat coronavirus pandemic in the state.

“We have put up all these facilities so that we shall be able to do all the management processes within the boundaries of the state.

“We have committed over N500 million besides the structures being commissioned but no amount is too much to put on the people and we are ready to spend even more,” he said.
