Good governance, not religion should determine 2023 – Clerics

Some Christian leaders have asserted that good governance track records and not religious affiliations should determine the outcome of 2023 elections.

The Christian leaders speaking at the closing of a 3 Day non-denominational prayer summit for the nation on Sunday, said said the next president must tackle corruption to address insecurity, adding that same faith is not a problem provided it will enthrone good governance for the people .

The president of the United Pastors Pastors Initiative for Good Governance Rev. James Muya said they were committed to ensure good governance ,adding that christians are not selfish.

“This is my stand on Muslim Muslim ticket of the APC, we are not a selfish people.

“If a particular party decides to nominate a wrong candidate it is their choice. So if you believe in them,vote them but if you don’t then vote them out.

He said Nigeria must curb corruption to tackle insecurity.

“Unless we tackle corruption in the country,we cannot tackle insecurity, corruption and selfishness is the reason for the insecurity,corruption does not select christian, Muslim or traditional worshipers” .

He therefore called on whoever will emerge President preach against corruption and work towards combating it.
The founder faithful faith and deliverance Ministry worldwide Apostle Anza Yakubu (JP) said only God understands the heart of man and he would choose the right President to lead the nation.

He said “Muslim Muslim ticket is not a problem to me if it’s the will of God it will happen,If it is for the good of the nation ,it will take place but if it’s for evil ,it will fail.

Speaking further he said only God understand the heart of man “we decree and declare that if it’s the will of God it will happen but if not it will fail.

Alot of parties are contesting but they will only be one President,the one God will choose is the one that we’ll comply with” .

He warned against the act of teaming up to destroy the country instead supporting whoever emerges leader and called on the next President to carry all Nigerians along

“We need a loving President who will embrace everybody irrespective of religion and ethnic affiliation.

Leadership is a big task,if people know what it takes to be a leader,many people will not aspire to be leaders” he said.
