Gov AbdulRasaq, minister task NBAIS on syllabus

The Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq of Kwara state have urged the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) to review the syllabus of their programme to meet up with challenges of 21st century.

The duo spoke at a workshop themed, “The Role of NBAIS in the Integration of TSANGAYA System of Education in Nigeria” which ended in Ilorin Friday.

Adamu, represented by NBAIS registrar, Prof. Muhammed Abdullahi, charged participants at the workshop to “work together to produce a national syllabus for our education.”

The minister also urged them to consider the proposal coming from the federal government to ensure that they arrived at a syllabus that would conform to the national standards of education.

He said the federal government was concerned about Tsangaya (informal Arabic educational) system which he noted should be integrated into the main national syllabus of education.

Also, in his address, Governor AbdulRasaq àsked the NBAIS to review the syllabus of their programme to conform to modern technology of education. 

“I want to implore the board to review the policy of their programme to meet up with modern technology of education, among other challenges of the 21st century,” he said.

He said his administration had provided office accommodation for the smooth running of NBAIS activities in Kwara state.
