Gov. Dickson accuses APC of plot to intimidate voters

The Bayelsa state Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson, on Friday accused the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC)  in the of plotting  to use security agencies to   rig ,  manipulate, and unleash violence on  voters in the state.

Governor Dickson said though his administration would protect the people of the state from the planned violence from hired thugs and cultists.

Governor Dickson, while speaking in Yenagoa during t a Media Chat, alleged that intelligence report made available to him showed that the opposition party in the state led by the former governor, Timipre Sylva, the Minister of State for Agriculture; Senator Heineken Lokpobiri is arming thugs with all sorts of ammunitions and weapons to attack electorates.

Governor Dickson however assured the people that the state government in collaboration with the security agencies is working to ensure that all communities, waterways and creeks is well protected.

He said: “Even with all these, security officials are not helping the situation, some of them are even partisan, since 2015 when the APC lost the governorship election in Bayelsa, they took a decision in connivance with the security forces to undermine and destabilize this state.

“But it is by the grace of God and the support of Bayelsa people that this state is not completely destabilized today, I learnt that some opposition leaders are distributing weapons to thugs to execute this election.

“As we are talking, it is only God that knows what will happen in Ogbia local government during the election day, even in Southern Ijaw, the reports are the same, that is why I’m calling on my people to come out during election day and reject these criminals.” He said.

He argued that with the threat by APC leaders in some parts of the country on foreign observers, it shows that they are plotting some dangerous, calling on authority to ensure that safety of voters is guaranteed before even considering that of international observers.
