Gov Gaidam commissions N5.9bn Damaturu-Buni Gari road

Yobe State Governor Ibrahim Gaidam has commisioned the construction of 77 KM Damaturu-Buni Gari road aim at rehabilitating the road constructed since 1973
This was contained in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mr. Abdulahi Bego.
The statement said: “Unveiling the plague which marks the commissioning of the construction work, Governor Ibrahim Gaidam says the road is designed to open up the southern part of the state which has being without road thereby affecting economic activities in the state.

“The governor expressed sadness that the road, constructed since 1973 by the federal government, has suffered neglect this long.
“Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam said, so far, his administration has awarded the constructed of seven hundred and thirty kilometres of road across the state and have achieved more than 60 per cent of the work.
“He assures that the work will be completed before the end of 2015 assuring that contracts for more roads will be awarded this fiscal year.”

It said the Commissioner of Works, Alhaji Shetima Lawan Ali, “showered praises on the state governor for the various road projects going on across the state pointing out that the people of the state are indebted to him for the legacy”.
The road, it said, would serve two local governments in the state and would terminate at the Mahza the Yobe/Borno boarder.
