Gov poll: FCT natives advocate franchise

The indigenes of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the umbrella of Gbagyi Community Development Initiative, have expressed  displeasure over non-participation in the Saturday governorship elections.

National Co-coordinator of the group, Barrister James Egah Ndeye, made the observation while speaking with journalist in Abuja yesterday.
He said the FCT natives had suffered a lot since the inception of democracy without exercises their franchise of electing a governorship representative.
Ndeye appealed to President-elect to carry the people of FCT along because they had been deprived of their full right to vote and be voted for, describing it as a discrimination on them.
The group leader further congratulated Buhari for his victory and President Goodluck Jonathan for accepting defeat during the March 28 Presidential election.
“Buhari has won the election, he has emerged as victor. I want to believe that we Nigerians are the winners. I also want to commend President Goodluck Jonathan for allowing peace to reign. This is democracy and that is essence of it that they must be a contest and out of this contest, one most emerged winner,” he said.
He appealed to Nigerians to allow peace reign, especially in the Niger delta region, calling on the militants to follow the footsteps of “our greet fathers who have embraced peace”.
