Governor Obiano won’t dump APGA for APC – Okogbuo

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), deputy national chairman, (south) Uchenna Okogbuo, has said the Anambra state governor, Willie Obiano, has no plan to defect to the governing All Progressives Congress(APC).

This was even as Okogbuo berated the oppositions over the rumour of Governor Obiano’s purported plan to exit APGA.

Obiano, who is currently serving his second term in office, was elected governor of Anambra state on the platform of APGA. He is the only APGA governor in the entire federation.

Addressing APGA leaders and Stakeholders during its State congress conducted in Umuahia, Abia State, at the weekend, Okogbuo, said that the governor had shown commitment towards the growth of the party, assuring that the Anambra governor would not abandon the party for the All Progressives Congress(APC).

“Governor Obiano is committed to the growth of this party( APGA). And If those we so-called Stakeholders are committed to the party, APGA would have gone beyond where it is today. There are rumours that the Anambra Governor, Obiano, is leaving APGA for APC. It is not possible. It is not true.

“Our leader, the (governor) is not kind of person, like others, who runs from one political party to another. In the first instance, the governor is not looking for something to do. He was far away America when APGA brought him back to do the good works he is doing. So, those rumours that Obiano is ready to leave APGA to the APC, is false and baseless”.

The APGA chieftain, however, assured members and the people of Abia, that it was repositioning and poised to sack the ruling PDP from the Government house in 2023.

Okogbuo claimed that the present administration in Abia, had foisted hardship and penury on the people, adding that the party would take over the state and ensure democratic dividends are brought to the doorsteps of Abia people.
