Govs ready to endorse constitutional roles for traditional rulers – Tambuwal

Sokoto state Governor Aminu Tambuwal, Wednesday said governors are ready to support the provision of constitutional roles for traditional rulers in the country.

Governor Tambuwal said, already, northern governors had endorsed the move, as he sought the support of the South south traditional rulers to actualize the effort.

Tambuwal spoke in Asaba, Delta state alongside Zamfara state governor, Bello Matawalle, while commissioning the state’s Traditional Rulers Council secretariat.

The governors also commissioned the 1,700 student capacity newly constructed Igumbor -Otiku Secondary School, Agbor, Ika South local government area of Delta state.

He lauded Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for keeping to the promise to develop children, particularly girl child.

Governor Matawale said the school project has demonstrated Gov. Okowa’s commitment to advancing development in the state.

He said Okowa’s invitation to him and to Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto was a demonstration of the oneness and genuine love between Northern and Southern Nigeria.

Matawalle said developing the children through education and particularly the education of women means building the nation.

“I am delighted by the reception and warm hospitality of the people of Delta. My leader, Gov. Okowa, this invitation has demonstrated all sense of patriotism and genuine love for a united Nigeria.

“We have to appreciate that our diversity is a source of strength.

“Gov. Okowa has made huge investment in the education sector and this is very commendable.

“I congratulate the people of Delta for having a governor whose focus is commitment in advancing development. He has kept the creed to develop children and women,” Matawalle said.

He charged the people of the state to continue to support Gov. Okowa in his drive to deepen development of the state.
