Gridlock: FRSC seeks police, army intervention on Nyanya road

Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has solicited for the cooperation of the police and Army to support its struggle to ensure free flow of traffic on the Nyanya-Mararaba road.
Its unit commander, Michael Arinzeagu, in chat with Blueprint, said the gridlock on the ever busy road is caused by some motorists which violate traffic rules.
He appealed to all the security agents that plied the route to obey the rules, as their support would always help in reducing the high volume of congestion on the axis.
He said: “Police and Army want to drive against the traffic to get where they are going and in that process, as they are passing other motorists followed them, it create more gridlock.
“This route is not a ten line road and we have high volume of traffic, especially during the peak hour, so if security agents too refuse to obey the traffic rules we will be having problem of traffic jam at all times.
“Security agents too pack on the road to carry passengers, instead of going inside the motor parks, or designated areas, this affect vehicles coming behind, before you understand the whole place will be block.”
Arinzeagu said cyclists, and those hawking on the road, constituted menace, and, therefore, advised the road users to cooperate in order to ensure safety of commuters.
