Grief, tears as late COAS Attahiru, 10 others are laid to rest

The remains of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and ten others who died in plane crash in were today laid to rest with full military honour amidst tears and anguish at the military cemetery Abuja.

Others buried along with the Army Chief are Brig.-Gen M.I Abdulkadir, Brig.-Gen Olayinka, Brig.-Gen. Kuliya, Maj.Hayat, Maj. Hamza and Sgt. Umar.

Others are the crew members of the ill-fated NAF aircraft Flt. Lt. Osaniyi, Flt. Lt. Olufade, Sgt. Adesina and ACM.

President Muhammed Buhari who was represented at the occasion by the minister of defence Maj.-Gen Bashir Magashi described the deaths of General Attahiru and other military personnels as tragic.

He particularly praised late Attahiru for his prossionalism, saying he led the troops from the front.

On his part, the Chief of Defence Staff General Lucky Irabor, in a speech titled” For the love of country”, said the death of the senior officers will not be in vain.

He reiterated the commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to tackling security challenges confronting the country.
