Groom young ones for rainy days, SOKAPU tells big wigs

Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) yesterday advised prominent sons and daughters of Southern Kaduna area of Kaduna state to groom young men and women that would succeed them in the future.
The national president of the union, Dr. Ephraim Goje, gave the advice at the commissioning ceremony of an educational and leadership training centre established by Mr. Timothy Gandu, a former Principal Private Secretary to late Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa in Kaduna.
Goje said: “We must do something to raise young generation, which will succeed us and not recycling ourselves instead of grooming and mentoring young leaders. We should establish outfit like this and not on the contrary investments that will not benefit us as a people.”
Earlier, Gandu, in his remarks, said “it is for our collective development and progress, and to groom young stars that will man leadership stable.”
National Chairman, Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P), Gen. Martin Luther Agwai (rtd), said it was a good venture and in line with federal government’s transformation agenda.
Agwai said: “It is a good initiative and we are proud of it, the government has earmarked N15 billion to ease transportation sector in the country; a trend that will reduce hardship. The SURE-P Fund is being put into use to address most of the pressing needs of Nigerians, including poverty reduction and job creation, federal government has given directive that the money be released to some development banks to facilitate the projects in the country.”
