Group accuses Dickson of persistent witch-hunt of former president Jonathan

A group under the aegis of Niger Delta Roundtable (NDR), Thursday, came down heavily on the Governor of Bayelsa State, Henry Seriake Dickson, accusing him of being behind a recent call on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to arrest former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, on corruption allegations.

The group accused Governor Dickson, of being behind a group, named Forum for Accountability, which gave the EFCC, an ultimatum, to arrest the former President.

The NDR, in a statement issued today in Port Harcourt, and signed by its Publicity Secretary, Comrade Prekiye Abadi, described Governor Dickson, as a serial betrayer, who will not stop at anything, “in his desperate bid, to forcefully assume the topmost political leadership position in the state, despite the status of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, as a former President”.

The group, said it wonders, why Governor Dickson, will become so desperate, to continually denigrate, the good image and reputation of Jonathan.

Referring to a statement, the Governor was quoted to have said, that the Niger Delta, and Bayelsa State, did not benefit anything, in terms of development, during the tenure of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, as the President of the country.

The group also described those, calling for the arrest of former President Jonathan, as ignorant, and mere trumpeters of the campaign of calumny, being orchestrated by Governor Seriake Dickson, against the former President.

It also said, that the call for arrest, is an insult on the person of Dr. Jonathan, considering the facts available, and considering his achievements nationwide and as one of those in the nation, that has ever governed the country.

The group appealed to the former President, not to join issues with Governor Dickson, and those being sponsored, to smear his image.
