Group charges leaders on youth empowerment

The Committee of Youth on Mobilization and Sensitization (CYMS) has charged l Nigerian leaders to channel their energy towards youth empowerment.

The Director General CYMS, Obinna Nwaka said the committee enjoins Nigerians especially the young people to bear at the back of their minds that only good governance remain the beauty of democracy and for Nigeria to have good governance, money bags politics, vote buying and political sentiments must be shunned.

Nwaka made this statement in a press briefing on the ‘State of the Nation’ by the Buhari/Osibanjo Mandate group on Thursday, in Abuja.

He disclosed that CYMS whose mandate is to “unite and empower the Nigerian youths, engaged several notable youth bodies following their observation on the disunity and lack of proper sense of belonging by political leaders to fashion out ways which young people can take their space in governance and other decision making arm in the country.”

He further said that the massive turnout of youths in political participation and in the 2019 pre-election activities motivated by the Not Too Young to Run Bill signed by the present administration shows that the President would endorse a young successor in 2023.

The Chairman Buhari/Osibanjo Mandate group Dr. Sani Abdullah urged youths to come out in massive to vote for the present Administration in order to succeed him.
