The Civil Society Groups for Good Governance (CSGGG) has commended the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) over its successes on the Digital Switch Over (DSO) programme in the country.
President of CSGGG, Comrade Dominic Ogakwu, who gave the commendation in Abuja yesterday while briefing newsmen on the outcome of their independent assessment of NBC’s project, said the leadership of the commission has so far demonstrated professionalism in the handling of the DSO programme and called on well-meaning Nigerians to support the project.
“We commend the leadership of NBC for their tireless commitment to making digital switch over a reality in Nigeria. It is a huge achievement in changing the television experience of the Nigerian people who deserve a better deal.
“DSO is a people oriented programme of government because it will create jobs and there is need to encourage those saddled with this responsibility to ensure all the 36 states are fully switched over before the expiration of the four years of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“We must support government’s efforts, especially the NBC project on digitisation. We urge them to stay focused in their service to this nation. These are trying times for Nigeria and we all need to identify with selfless and dedicated leadership style as exemplified by the Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission, Mr Ishaq Modibbo Kawu.
“Despite the huge economic challenges coupled with paucity of funds, the Buhari government is poised towards ensuring that all states are captured in the programme as soon as possible and at the same time making it profitable for stakeholders in the media sector,” he said.
