Group condemns media campaign against NBET boss

A media advocacy group, League of Anambra Media Practitioners (LAMP) has frowned at efforts of alleged hired hands to tarnish the reputation of the Managing Director, Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading PLC (NBET), Dr Mrs Amobi, through sponsored media campaigns.

The league in a press statement by the Convener of LAMP, Mr Williams Orji, Wednesday in Abuja, said: “The faceless groups using some back-yard online media platforms are mounting a campaign of calumny aimed at distracting and pulling down this hard working woman, simply because she is a woman and abhors corruption and ineptitude in all forms.”

LAMP urged those behind the campaigns to have a rethink and join hands with Dr Amobi and the agency to achieve the core mandate of the company which is primarily procurement of needed power for the benefits of Nigerians.

While commending the NBET boss for foresight in repositioning the company to an enviable height since her appointment, LAMP noted the electricity bulk buying company has kept faith with its core values and objectives since the appointment of Dr Amobi.

“It is common knowledge that NBET under the leadership of Marilyn Amobi is discharging the core obligations of the trading firm to the country’s  power generating plants, through Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) it entered with the firms as these plants have continued to receive payments on energy generated through contracts that were well structured and devoid of any thing suggesting the short-changing both parties.

“Dr Amobi has kept faith with these agreements and had gone further to reposition NBET as one of successful federal government-owned enterprises through innovations,” the statement said.
