Group distributes face masks, food to grassroots teams

The Football Intermediaries Association of Nigeria ( FIAN) has begun the distribution of free face masks to grassroots teams and  less privileged members of the society across the six geo- political zones of Nigeria.

The distribution which is a part of FIAN Covid-19 palliative initiatives kicked off in Ajegunle area of Ajeromi-Ifelodun local government of Lagos state on Friday last week.

 7 grassroots teams which were represented by team captains, 3 players and coach respectively were given packs of 50 pieces of high quality FIAN branded facemasks and 1Kg rice each, while the coaches got extra bags of 5kg and 10kg rice.

The event was witnessed by Ajeromi-Ifelodun local governments Director- General of Sports, Hon. MacAnthony Anaelechukwu and Supervisory Councilors, who represented the Council boss, Hon. Fatai Ayoola, also assisted in the distribution of the palliative packages.

Speaking on behalf of FIAN chairman, Ayodele Thomas,  Irikefe admonished  well placed individuals, groups, government, private and public sectors respectively to reach out to the grassroots and most vulnerable enclaves of the Nigeria who urgently need the palliatives at this perilous period.

He disclosed that FIAN next point of distribution will be in Etiosa local government, slated for Wednesday and While the distributions of the palliative packages to the less privileged grassroots footballers, fans and the vulnerable in Kaduna, Uyo, and Port- Harcourt will follow simultaneously.
