Group honours Nekede poly on safety, environment

A group known as Occupational Safety and Health Association (OshAssociation UK) has conferred a fellowship award on the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri, Dr. Michael Arimanwa, the Deputy Rector, Dr. Anthonia Nwosu, Registrar, Mrs. Eucharia Anuna, Bursar, Mr V.N. Amyanwuocha, and the Librarian, Dr. Chris Emyia, for their role in promoting safety and health issues in the polytechnic environment.

While presenting his address, a fellow of Osha and the Imo state chapter, Dr. Austin Madu who represented the regional president, Dr. Dalhatu Mohammed Ahmed, described Occupational Safety and Health Association as an international professional organisation recognised in England and Nigeria.

It is dedicated to ensuring occupational Safety and Health on land, sea, air and environment. And that the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment recognise the roles and achievements of the association in occupational safety and health.

Commenting after receiving the rector’s award and her own, the deputy rector who represented the rector, Dr Nwosu described occupational and social safety as very important in the lives of individuals and advised people to key into the philosophy. She said OshA was meant for those interested in health, safety, security and environment, especially in this period of COVID- 19 ravaging the world.
