Group to Lalong: Remove Dabo from pilgrims board

The Concerned Muslim Pilgrims Monitoring Group in Plateau has lauded the reconstitution of the state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board by Governor Simon Lalong as timely.
Specifically, the group commended the appointment of a scholar to serve as the Executive Secretary of the Board but called for the delisting of the board Director of Finance and Supply, Alhaji Bello Dabo, as its member.
The group in a statement issued by Auwal Abubakar and Comrade Abdullahi Auta, Chairman and Secretary, respectively said: “Though the reconstitution of the board was long overdue, yet the appointment of Barr. Auwal Abdullahi, an Islamic scholar of high repute as Executive Secretary of the board as a good thing to happen to the Muslim pilgrims”.
It, however, said the appointment of the board Director of Finance and Supply, Alhaji Bello Dabo to also serve as board member “amounts to double standard”.
“While appreciating the reconstitution of the board with persons of good character, we also see something wrong in appointing Bello Dabo to also serve as board member, whereas; he is the Director of Finance and Supply,” the group said.
The group therefore urged Governor Lalong through the office of the Secretary to the State Government to delist him out of the board membership without delay.
“Our appeal is based on the fact that the board requires more credible personalities that will help in rescuing the many rots in it as it is the sincere desire of His Excellency, Governor Simon Lalong,” it added.
