Group partners Christian aid on peace in Kaura

Kaduna state peace commission has been called upon to join hands with the youth in support of community development to ensure coexistence and lasting peace in Kaura local government and its environs.
Project Director of the NGO, Mr Iliya D.
Magaji, made the call in Manchok, yesterday while briefing members of the peace committee constituted by the organisation.
The director said YOTASCID, in collaboration with Christian Aid has done a lot in restoring mutual respect and understanding among the people in the community irrespective of differences, especially among farmers and herdsmen.
He said reports had reached their office from Zelan village at the top of Kagoro hills of the arrival of strange herdsmen in their numbers, causing tension and suspicion among the locals.
The director, however, said members of the committee would visit the area in two days to meet with all the various groups, including the herders, settlers and strangers, which according to him would help in bringing everyone together.
Commenting on reported presence of herdsmen heading to Kagoro hills, the Ardo of Kaura said the movement had nothing to do with crisis, saying the herders were only in search of greener pastures and assured of his readiness to meet everyone concerned towards building lasting peace in the area.
Chairmen of community peace committee, Bonding and Mifil district, Victor Dodo and Andrew Daniel, expressed happiness over the achievements recorded, including peace with their Fulani neighbours in addition to having mutual respect and understanding.
The youth leader, Moroa Chiefdom, Mr Naku Likita, advised youth in the area to be vigilant and report any suspicious movement to relevant authorities.
He also urged them to avoid all tendencies that will breach the peace being enjoyed in the area.
